The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo embarked on a two-day tour in the Northern Region as part of his annual regional tour to access developmental projects.
The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu who led the tour on behalf of the Chiefs and People of the Region commended the President for the numerous developmental projects in the region.
“The People of Northern Region would forever remember H.E. Akufo-Addo for the unprecedented development in the region. This has made the region more attractive to investors and a place to live in peace,” he added.
𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀
During the tour, H.E. Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari II and inspected ongoing works on Yendi Sports Stadium, and cut sod for a 2.53 km dualisation road project in the Yendi. He disclosed that about 10km of road in Yendi has been asphalted so far.
According to the Resident Engineer, Ing. Dennis Kusi-Boateng, the Yendi town dualisation road project is expected to be completed within seven months.
The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari II, commended the government for the commencement of the Yendi-Tatale and Yendi-Tamale highways projects and as well appealed to the government to add the Gulkpegu-Nayili Fong road in Yendi township to the dualisation of the Yendi town road – as the road is one of the major inner town roads which is currently in a bad state.
He equally expressed gratitude to the government for the smooth and successful organisation of this year’s Hajj from Tamale to Madina and Mecca to observe their religious obligation in line with their faith without any hitch.
In addition, President Akufo-Addo inspected ongoing works on the district hospital under the government’s agenda 111 initiative in Saboba, Mion and Kpandai.
At Bimbila, he inspected the GHS9.2 million yam and cassava processing factory by the Global Almas Processing Ltd under the government’s flagship 1D1F initiative.
He cut sod for the commencement of a 2km dualisation road project in Bimbila township as part of the Eastern corridor road construction and commissioned an administration block at the Bimbila E.P College of Education.
He also cut sod for the construction of a 2km dualisation project in Bimbila township as part of lot 5 of the Eastern corridor road construction.
