Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) hosted its 2nd Annual Get-Together and Staff Awards at the Residency of NRCC on Wednesday, 17 January 2024. The event, spearheaded by the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, aimed to acknowledge the dedication and distinction of NRCC staff, fostering unity and motivation for continued excellence in the years ahead.
During the ceremony, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu commended the hard work and commitment of the staff throughout the year. He encouraged them to maintain their dedication, emphasizing the government of Ghana’s continuous support for workers by providing an enabling environment and ensuring timely payment of salaries, wages, and emoluments.
He revealed his early public service working life when he was supervising about 25 workers, stating that, “today, I am lucky and honored to be superintending over a whole region and has an indoor working population of 138 staff both skilled and unskilled and also superintending over 21 departments under the regional coordinating council”.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Director/RCD, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, praised the staff for delivering quality administration and technical services to Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and NGOs.
He highlighted NRCC’s achievements in 2023, showcasing the council’s recognition as the best in the country for operating the internal Audit unit and excelling in financial management, with Karaga district being recognized as the second best in record keeping nationwide. Noteworthy renovations were also undertaken in NRCC during the year, a testament to the collaborative efforts of all units.
The ceremony featured a prestigious awards segment, with accolades given in various categories, including Most Discipline/Professional Officer, Best Unit, Best Senior Staff, Best Junior Staff, and Best Auxiliary Worker.
Chief Director/RCD, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, received the Most Discipline/Professional Officer award, lauded for his impeccable appearance, punctuality, and approachability.
Other awardees included Mr. Mohammed Issah (Record Management Unit) for Best Senior Staff, Madam Lantana Inusah for Best Junior Staff, and Mr. Iddrisu Abdul Karim as the Best Auxiliary Worker. The Internal Audit Unit was recognized as the Best Unit. Awards presented included certificates, refrigerators, and plasma TVs.
