The Northern Region witnessed the formal signing of the 2024 Performance Contract between Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Metropolitan Municipal and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) on Monday, February 5, 2024.
The event which was held at the Conference Room of the Northern Regional Co-ordinating Council (NRCC) in Tamale, marked a significant step in enhancing performance and productivity in the region’s local government sector, as the signing of these contracts is a crucial aspect of implementing the Performance Management System (PMS) of the Local Government Service (LGS), mandated by the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936).
These efforts are geared toward improving work output and achieving organizational goals, which underscores the commitment of MMDCEs and MMDCDs to deliver effectively in their respective districts throughout 2024.
Representatives from all 16 Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region gathered at the NRCC to endorse the contracts, highlighting their dedication to meeting the outlined objectives for the year.
In an opening remark, the Chief Director/RCD, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku said achieving organizational goals requires the collaborative effort of all departments and units of the organization. He therefore, called for a team work in all the Assemblies in line with the key indicators to be able to achieve the goals set for 2024.
“The Northern Regional Coordinating Council will continue to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the contract to ensure that the Assemblies achieve their set targets,” he added.
The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu said that, it is always cooperation and share of responsibility that will give a meaningful governance to achieve positive output.
He admonished all staff to be mindful with the working hours, strictly comply with the key indicators of the performance contract and work hard so as to achieve the set targets for this year’s performance contract.
The signing ceremony formalized the agreement between the MMDCEs and MMDCDs signing on behalf
of their respective MMDAs and witnessed by the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu and the Chief Director/RCD, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku on behalf of NRCC.
Hon. Abdulai Yacquub, the MCE for Nanumba North and Deen of the MMDCEs, expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister and affirmed the commitment of MMDAs towards achieving the set targets for 2024.
