THE 2024 CHOCOLATE DAY CELEBRATIONS.

  The 2024 Chocolate Day (Valentine Day) celebration’s theme is “EAT CHOCOLATE,

STAY HEALTHY, GROW GHANA”.   Explore Ghana, Eat Ghana!

As part of the celebration in the Northern regional office visited the Red Clay Studio to tour with chocolate.

CONCLUSION

The programme (the 2024 chocolate Day celebration) was worth celebrating and successful as the regional office put smiles on the faces of the tourist and school pupils.  The media and staff from GTA came in on time and there was an interview session after

WORLD TOURISM DAY CELEBRATION

THEME: “TOURISM AND PEACE”

DATE: SEPTEMBER 17, 2024

LOCATION: ABOABO MARKET, TAMALE

INTRODUCTION/OBJECTIVES

World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on September 27th, seeks to enhance global awareness of tourism’s significance in social, cultural, political, and economic spheres. This year’s theme, “Tourism and Peace,” underscores tourism’s potential to foster peace and understanding, while also highlighting its role in cultural exchange and conflict resolution. The 2024 celebration aims to showcase the transformative power of sustainable tourism in job creation, promoting inclusion, and strengthening local economies.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED

On September 17, 2024, the Northern Regional Office of the authority, in collaboration with several organizations, including local media, senior lecturers from the Department of Eco-Tourism and Hospitality at UDS, the Tourist Club of Ghana Senior High School in Tamale, the Assembly Member and community members of Aboabo Electoral Area, and Zoomlion Ghana Limited, organized a community cleanup at Aboabo Market as part of the regional celebrations for UNWTO Day.

 

ACTIVITIES INCLUDED:

Preparation: The team arrived at the venue by 10:45 AM, where supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and refreshments were distributed.

Cleanup Action: Participants were organized into teams, each assigned specific areas to clean. Their tasks included picking up litter, sorting recyclables, and identifying larger waste items that needed special attention.

Post-Cleanup Reflection: Following the cleanup, participants engaged in interviews and took a group photograph to commemorate the event.

 

CONCLUSION

The cleanup exercise successfully achieved its objectives, resulting in a cleaner environment and enhanced community engagement. The event not only contributed to local beautification but also fostered a spirit of cooperation among participants, reinforcing the message of peace and unity through collective action.

THE NORTHERN GHANA BUSINESS MERIT AWARDS

INTRODUCTION

the Northern Ghana Business Merit Awards took place on September 13, 2024, at Modern City, Tamale. This awards scheme, organized by The Business Executive Media Group, was designed to celebrate and showcase the success stories of businesses and entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana. The event aimed to recognize both private and public sector entities that have positively impacted the economy and society across the Northern, Northeast, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West Regions, as well as to honor individual entrepreneurs and corporate executives demonstrating exemplary performance and conduct in various aspects of their work.

The distinguished guests of honor included the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, and former Minister of Labour, Mr. Gamey.

Categories

The awards featured six categories for potential recipients:

  • Private enterprises engaged in socio-economic activity, that are domiciled and are operationally active in the Northern, North, East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West Regions, being on Ghana’s Register of Companies
  • Public corporations/institutions engaged in socio- economic activity in any or all the aforementioned regions, that are wholly or partly state owned.
  • Private sector top level business entrepreneurs and corporate executives who are domiciled and working in the any of the regions, irrespective of their nationality.
  • Private sector top level business entrepreneurs and corporate executives who are not permanently domiciled and working in any of the five regions, but whose businesses are active within any or all of the Regions, irrespective of their nationality.
  • Top level executives, of wholly or partly state-owned public corporations/institutions active in any or all of the five Regions.
  • Entrepreneurs/ top tier managers of businesses not active in any of the five regions.
