Hon. Ali Adolf John, the esteemed Northern Regional Minister, delivered a distinguished opening address at the Third Edition of the Northern Trade, Industry and Investment Summit, convened at the GNAT Hall in Tamale on Wednesday, August 20, 2025
The summit, centered around the theme “Enhancing Trade and Industrial Growth through Strategic Investment and Accelerated Export,” functions as a pivotal platform for dialogue, collaboration, and actionable strategies geared towards transforming Northern Ghana through augmented trade, enhanced industrial productivity, and expanded investment opportunities.
Hon. Ali Adolf John underscored that the summit constitutes a critical forum for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic action towards augmenting trade, boosting industrial productivity, and unlocking investment opportunities within Northern Ghana.

Since its inception, the summit has exerted a significant influence on the economic landscape of Northern Ghana. It has successfully facilitated connections amongst businesses, investors, and policymakers, fostered trade and investment through the establishment of business ties, and promoted the region’s tourism and cultural heritage.
The minister noted that the government, under the stewardship of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has introduced an array of policies and programs within the trade, industry, and investment sectors. These encompass the Big Push Infrastructure program, the Export Ghana Policy, the 24-Hour Economy Policy, the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank, the Adwumawura program targeting youth-led businesses, and the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Hon. Ali Adolf John accentuated the necessity of collaboration amongst the private sector, academia, development partners, civil society, and government to synergize efforts aimed at enhancing trade, industry, and investment in Northern Ghana.



The minister highlighted that Northern Ghana presents itself as a strategic gateway for trade, boasting an abundance of natural resources coupled with a youthful and industrious population, thereby rendering the region an attractive locale for investment.
Hon. Ali Adolf John exhorted stakeholders to transcend rhetorical discussions and commit to actionable outcomes during the summit. The focus is to be on forging signed deals, securing investment pledges, cultivating new networks, and establishing partnerships.
