The Northern Region has taken another significant step forward in its development drive as the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, on Monday, April 27, 2026, commissioned a number of key community projects in the Tolon District aimed at improving healthcare, education, and access to potable water.
The Minister, who was accompanied by the Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abubakari Adam Takoro, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sagnarigu, Abdulai Imoro Gong was warmly received by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Tolon, Hon. Seidu Braimah, alongside traditional authorities and residents of the beneficiary communities.

The projects commissioned include two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Yipelgu and Waribogu Kamonayili, a borehole at Nangbagu, and a Kindergarten (KG) block at Nyankpala St. Monica.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ali Adolf John described the projects as critical interventions that directly respond to the pressing needs of the people. He noted that the CHPS compounds will significantly improve access to primary healthcare services, particularly for women and children, while reducing the burden of traveling long distances to seek medical care.
He emphasized that government remains committed to strengthening healthcare delivery at the community level, stressing that accessible and quality healthcare is a fundamental right and a key pillar for national development.

On the provision of the borehole at Nangbagu, the Minister highlighted the importance of clean water in promoting good health and improving livelihoods, noting that the project would greatly ease the challenges faced by residents, especially women and children, in accessing safe drinking water.
Touching on education, the Regional Minister underscored the significance of the newly commissioned KG block at Nyankpala St. Monica, stating that early childhood education remains a cornerstone for building a strong educational foundation. He reaffirmed governmentβs commitment to expanding educational infrastructure to ensure that every child has access to a conducive learning environment.
In his welcome address, the District Chief Executive for Tolon, Hon. Seidu Braimah, expressed profound gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment, which he said has enabled him to spearhead critical development initiatives in the district. He disclosed that the projects commissioned were funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), reflecting prudent use of public resources to address community needs.
The DCE further extended appreciation to the Northern Regional Minister, the Tamale Mayor, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu for their continuous support and collaboration in advancing development in the district. He assured the Regional Minister that more projects are lined up for commissioning in the course of 2026 as part of efforts to accelerate development in the area.
Hon. Ali Adolf John further linked the projects to the governmentβs broader development framework, including the 24-hour economy policy and the Big Push infrastructure initiative, which aim to accelerate socio-economic transformation and create opportunities for citizens across the country.
The Mayor of Tamale, Hon. Abubakari Adam Takoro, also lauded the initiative, noting that such interventions are essential in bridging development gaps between urban and rural communities.
Residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to government and the district assembly for the projects, describing them as timely and transformative. Many indicated that the CHPS compounds would significantly improve access to healthcare services, while the borehole would provide a lasting solution to water challenges in the area.
The commissioning of these projects marks a major milestone in the Tolon Districtβs development journey and highlights governmentβs continued commitment to improving living conditions and promoting inclusive growth across the Northern Region.
