𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦 𝗡𝗥𝗖𝗖 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗙𝗙, 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

The engagement, held on Friday, 21 August 2026, at the NRCC Round Pavilion, brought together management, senior staff, junior staff and casual workers of the Regional Coordinating Council.

The staff durbar provided an open platform for the Regional Minister and the Chief Director of the NRCC, Mr. Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu, to interact directly with staff, listen to their concerns and identify challenges affecting their ability to discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

During the opening session, staff had the opportunity to openly present their grievances and challenges, including concerns relating to working conditions, logistics and other resources required to enable them to perform their duties effectively.

The Regional Minister listened to the concerns and assured the staff of his commitment to working with management to address legitimate challenges confronting the workforce and provide the necessary support and resources to improve productivity.

Hon. Ali Adolf John stressed that public servants were central to the implementation of government policies and programmes and, therefore, needed a conducive working environment and the appropriate tools to deliver effectively.

He encouraged staff to remain committed to their duties, noting that their dedication and efficiency were essential to advancing development and improving the living conditions of residents in the Northern Region.

The Minister also used the occasion to announce plans for the renovation of the Regional Minister’s official residence, including the construction or rehabilitation of its perimeter fence wall, as part of efforts to improve the facility and enhance its general condition.

He explained that improving essential facilities and infrastructure within the regional administration was important to creating an environment that supported effective governance and the smooth performance of official duties.

As part of efforts to motivate the workforce, Hon. Ali Adolf John also extended financial support to the casual workers of the NRCC. The gesture, presented as a token of support, took into consideration their income levels and employment circumstances, particularly as they are not on the government payroll.

The support was intended to boost their morale and encourage them to continue giving their best in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Chief Director, Mr. Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu, also participated in the engagement and reinforced the importance of maintaining open communication between management and staff to identify and address challenges affecting the Council’s operations.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Director of Administration, Mr. Abdul Rahaman Ahmed Baba, expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister for taking time to engage directly with workers across the various categories.

He said the interaction had boosted the morale of staff and demonstrated the Minister’s willingness to listen to workers and understand the challenges they face in the course of their duties.

Mr. Abdul Rahaman Ahmed Baba assured the Regional Minister that the staff appreciated the gesture and would continue to work diligently and remain committed to their responsibilities towards the development of the Northern Region.

The staff durbar therefore served as an avenue for strengthening communication between management and staff, identifying workplace challenges and exploring practical measures to improve staff welfare and institutional performance.

The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council to promoting staff welfare, effective communication and improved working conditions as part of efforts to enhance public service delivery and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Northern Region.
