The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, delivered a poignant address at the 2024 West Africa Security Service Association (WASSA) Celebration, held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the forecourt of the Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale.
In his remarks, Hon. Ali Adolf John expressed sincere pleasure in joining the celebration of the collective endeavors aimed at maintaining peace and security within the region.
He extended heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated Police Officers for their unwavering and tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of communities across the region.
Emphasizing the significance of synergy, the minister underscored the importance of a collaborative approach involving the Police and other stakeholders to effectively address the security challenges confronting the region.
He pledged the Government’s steadfast support for joint initiatives geared towards creating a safer and more secure environment for all inhabitants.
Hon. Ali Adolf John urged stakeholders to remain vigilant and proactive in tackling security challenges, fostering a spirit of cooperation to promote peace and security.
Furthermore, he appealed to every citizen to play an active role in promoting peace and security, extending support to personnel in uniform who valiantly risk their lives to protect the community.
According to DCOP Mr. Wisdom Lavoe, the Regional Police Commander, WASSA is an annual celebration aimed at easing stress after a year of diligent service.
He commended the government for its support in facilitating the activities of the police service. Mr. Wisdom Lavoe highlighted notable challenges confronting the police service, including the inadequacy of vehicles, which hampers effective operations.
He made a fervent appeal to the government, through the regional minister, to equip the police service with adequate resources to enable the effective management of security in the region.
The commander highlighted security hotspots in the region, including chieftaincy disputes, drug abuse issues, and others, which were adeptly handled by his capable officers.
Assuring the regional minister and the government of his team’s unwavering commitment, DCOP Mr. Wisdom Lavoe underscored the police service’s dedication to serving the region and the country at large.
