H.E. John Dramani Mahama was officially sworn in as the President of the Republic of Ghana today, January 7, 2025. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, party supporters, and international observers, including 21 Heads of State from Africa and beyond, three Vice Presidents, and four former African leaders, was a testament to Ghana’s strong democratic foundations.
During the ceremony, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo administered the oath of office to President Mahama, who swore to bear true faith and allegiance to the Republic of Ghana, uphold its sovereignty and integrity, and preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

After taking the oath, President Mahama signed the official oath book, symbolizing his acceptance of the role and his allegiance to the Constitution.

In his inaugural speech, President Mahama expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their trust, promising to govern with integrity and focus on policies that benefit all citizens. He reiterated his commitment to tackling economic challenges, improving education, and creating opportunities for the youth.
This marks President Mahama’s return to the presidency, having previously served as the President of Ghana. His running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, was also sworn in as Ghana’s Vice President, making history as the first female Vice President of Ghana.
