The Northern Regional Coordinating Council has received a significant boost to its monitoring capabilities for the Social Cohesion (SOCO) project in the Northern Region. A total of 5 pick-up trucks, 24 laptops, and 59 tablets were presented to enhance the effectiveness of the project’s oversight.
Haruna Seidu Tapsoba, the transport officer representing the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, formally handed over the pick-up trucks to the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu.
The Northern Regional Minister, in turn, handed these vehicles, along with the laptops and tablets, to the Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Samuel K. Forson, while expressing his gratitude to the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development for their support.
He emphasized the importance of responsibly utilizing these resources to meet the objectives of the SOCO project.
Mr. Samuel K. Forson, the Zonal Coordinator, clarified the distribution of the equipment, noting that the 24 laptops are designated for use by eight Municipal and Metropolitan District Assemblies (MMDAs), with each assembly receiving three units. Meanwhile, the 59 tablets will be allocated to community facilitators operating in the same eight MMDAs. The newly acquired pick-up trucks will serve the Regional Coordinating Council and the SOCO zonal office for administrative purposes.
Explaining the role of community facilitators, Mr. Forson noted that they are local individuals recruited by the assemblies to assist in project activities and report their findings using the provided tablets.
