He ensures that regional development programs are aligned with national policies and objectives.

Hon. Mburudiba oversees the activities of MMDCEs, ensuring they implement national policies and programs effectively at the regional level. He focuses on promoting education, infrastructure, youth employment, and peacebuilding efforts in the region.

As the government’s chief representative in the region, he works closely with MMDCEs, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to resolve conflicts and issues that may arise.

The Minister monitors the performance of MMDCEs and the implementation of projects and programs in the region, ensuring that development initiatives are on track and achieving their intended objectives.

The Northern Region of Ghana is divided into 16 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies

(MMDAs), which are:

– Tamale Metropolitan Assembly

– Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly

– Kumbungu District Assembly

– Tolon District Assembly

– Savelugu Municipal Assembly

– Nanton District Assembly

– Karaga District Assembly

– Gushegu Municipal Assembly

– Yendi Municipal Assembly

– Saboba District Assembly

– Tatale-Sangule District Assembly

– Zabzugu District Assembly

– Kpandai District Assembly

– Nanumba South District Assembly

– Nanumba North Municipal Assembly

The MMDAs are headed by the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs)

Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) play a crucial role in the administration and development of their respective districts. Some of their key roles and responsibilities include:

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 MMDCEs are responsible for implementing national policies and programs at the local level.

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

They oversee the development and implementation of district plans, budgets, and projects.

MMDCEs ensure the delivery of basic services such as healthcare, education, sanitation, and infrastructure.

MMDCEs manage district resources, including finances, personnel, and assets.

They collaborate with other government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations to achieve development goals.
