The Chief of Field Officer at UNICEF, Mr. Bhanu Pathak has held a farewell meeting with heads of department at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) today, February 13, 2025. This meeting marks a significant moment, as the Chief Field Officer bids farewell to colleagues and partners in the region.
The partnership between UNICEF and the Northern Region has been instrumental in driving sustainable development and improving the well-being of children and families in the region. The collaboration has demonstrated a shared commitment to supporting the most vulnerable populations and leaving a lasting, positive impact on the Northern Region of Ghana.
During the farewell meeting, Mr. Bhanu Pathak, the Chief of Field Office at UNICEF expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts and reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to continuing its work in the region.
He assured stakeholders that UNICEF will continue to provide full support to help solve the water problem in the region, particularly Tamale and Yendi. This assurance underscores UNICEF’s dedication to improving the lives of communities in the Northern Region, where access to clean water remains a significant challenge.
By working together with local authorities and stakeholders, UNICEF aims to help ensure that communities in Tamale, Yendi, and surrounding areas have access to safe and reliable water sources.
The meetin have also provided an opportunity for the heads of department to acknowledge the Chief Field Officer’s contributions to the region’s development.
Mr. Mohammed Yakubu, Deputy Director of Administration at the Ghana Health Service, has expressed his appreciation to UNICEF for their support in various initiatives, such as improving healthcare access, strengthening health systems, and promoting community-based health services. This acknowledgment underscores the significant role UNICEF plays in bolstering Ghana’s healthcare system.
Mr. Kingsley Adzraku, representing the Ghana Education Service (GES), has joined in commending UNICEF for its invaluable support. He highlighted the significant impact of UNICEF’s collaboration with the GES in enhancing the country’s education sector.
He added that, Ghana Education Service has been working closely with UNICEF to improve access to quality education, particularly for disadvantaged and marginalized groups.
The recognition by the GES underscores the importance of UNICEF’s partnership in driving progress in Ghana’s education sector.
Madam Annunciata MZ Anglaaere, the Director of Social Welfare, has expressed her gratitude to the UNICEF for initiatives that promote the well-being of vulnerable populations, including children and families in the region.
The Acting Chief Director, Mr. Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu, representing the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, chiefs and people of the Northern Region, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to UNICEF for their invaluable support. Specifically, he commended UNICEF for their Integrated Rural Development Program, which has been instrumental in enhancing the capacity of staff at the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.
Mr. Abudu’s appreciation highlights the significant impact of UNICEF’s initiatives in promoting rural development and improving the lives of communities in the Northern Region.
