The Honorable Ali Adolf John, esteemed Northern Regional Minister, delivered substantive welcome remarks at a two-day orientation programme convened for newly appointed District Coordinators of the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) at the Mariam Hotel in Tamale from Thursday, 14th to Friday 15th of August, 2025.
The Honorable Regional Minister welcomed participants and conveyed commendation to the National DRIP Coordinator and team for orchestrating the orientation.

Hon. Ali Adolf John emphasized that DRIP endeavors to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with requisite tools and resources to ameliorate road networks, thereby addressing extant challenges of deteriorating road infrastructure prevalent in rural communities.
The Minister highlighted the vital role of District Coordinators in translating DRIP’s vision into impactful realities, concomitantly influencing infrastructure quality, operational efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.
Hon. Adolf urged facilitators to inculcate tenets of transparency, accountability, community engagement, technical expertise, safety, and collaboration in trainees. He concomitantly encouraged trainees to participate actively in the proceedings.

The Minister warned of challenges inherent in the work of District DRIP Coordinators but assured of support forthcoming from the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) contingent upon their adherence to proper conduct.
Hon. Adolf expressed concern regarding the reluctance of certain MMDAs to return equipment subsequent to utilization, citing a contentious case involving the Zabzugu District Assembly.
He directed the Regional DRIP Coordinator, Mr. Seidu Seini, to ensure the return of a wheel loader from the Zabzugu District Assembly by the close of the week, intimating severe sanctions in the event of non-compliance.
The National Coordinator of DRIP, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, averred in his opening remarks that the orientation was designed to impart intensive training to newly appointed District Coordinators on efficacious management of DRIP equipment. He further added that coordinators would also receive training pertaining to the operation and reporting on the utilization of DRIP equipment.
